Claven2Got my next project receiver today :)
The sad news is that it WAS a vet bringback before it got sportered

And now it's just a bare action. The bottom metal is 1960's era Herters milled metal I put on as a first step towards assembling the parts for my eventual .275 Rigby Rimless project

Yes, I know it needs to be cleaned up.
What do y'all think? Adequate base to build on?

tnekkccI have a few, with the eagles buffed out half way gone before someone did a hot blue.
Nice actions though.
Wish mine came with that bottom metal.

Claven2Well, this one isn't a restamp. Every single part is either s/n matching or WaA280 marked, just as it should be. Too bad it was just an action and not a whole rifle or I wouldn;t be using it for a sporter - oh well.
I think it'll be nice. Should have good metallurgy and it's nice and tight

D HumbargerCleven I will trade you a 1909 Argentine receiver (in the white) , boltstop & bolt for that receiver boltstop & bolt.
I would like to restore it as best that it can be restored. Let me know.

Claven2Doug,
Unless you are in Canada, I doubt that's going to happen
Anyhow, I have some nice argentines already. I'm looking forward to using a later made receiver for comparison purposes. In any event, it's forever no longer a matching collectible...

D HumbargerDanm! Nope I'm south of your border. In any case i recomend (for what its worth) not messing that reciever up. Find another one. VZ24, 1909, 1908 etc.

Claven2Why not out of curiosity? there are oodles of complete collectible K98k's out there. This one doesn't even have matching bottom metal, let alone stock, barrel, bands, floorplate, etc., etc...
IMHO it's a nice matching receiver to build a gun on with no real collector value.
In fact, I'd trade it for a mismatched complete K98k or a yugo refurb if someone up here would do that and build on a brazillian or something, but no takers

You misunderstand,
I think that acceptance mark looks cool. The Swastika is politically incorrect these days for some obvious reasons, but its history goes back over three thousand year, and is fascinating.
The thought of a false stamp never occurred to me. I guess anything and everything gets counterfitted.
Back to the main issue:
I think that action will make a great donor.
