Recoil RobBest way to measure twist rate.
A recent post got me thinking about what would be required to take my .35 Rem M30 and covert it to .358 Norma Mag.
Among other things I was thinking about what the original twist rate is in the .35Rem. barrel and if it would work for the Norma.
I suppose I could put a brush on a rod and see how far in it has to go to complete a full revolution but surly there must be a more accurate way.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Rob

eddieharrenMost all of the older 35 Rem. bbls. were 1 in 16 twist.

AtkinsonUse a snug patch on a rod, fold a piece of tape in front of the handle sticking up, measure it from someplace, when the tape makes a complete turn you have your twist....
What is an M 30 .35 Remington in original condition worth nowadays?

Recoil RobProbably too much for me to think of rechambering it. Mine's in real nice condition.
I have been offered $650 here in NY.

hawkinsIf you use a 200 gr bullet, and 39 or 40 gr. of 3031 you will get around 2350 fps. What more would you need?. The factory round is under 1900 fps.
Good luck!
