m70 magazine spring
It's been mentioned that a heavier mag. spring can improve feeding, especially the last round. Where can I get such a spring?
thanks

don't know of aftermarket; should be some by spring specialists like wolfe, etc but you might try a spring out of a mauser 98.

i've don't think i've ever used the spring itself but i did once use a follower out of a 98 in an m70 458 so if that worked the obverse should also. (the last rd in the magazine w/ the factory follower in place would just pop out of the gun when the bolt was racked back. changing to a standard 98 mauser follower cured it).

Chuck, Wisner's shows a factory spring. Is there a heavy duty one for special order?
thanks

The ones I use are built like the old Weatherby springs and fit the model 70 wonderfully. I would call and ask about them.

You can grind the left side of the follower so the last round feeds PERFECTLY. I have all my followers so modified. I believe some of the new factory followers are so ground.

I think you need the pre-64 replacement spring. If I remember, it gets you an extra round because there's not a spacer/tab on the spring.

Anyone know if the same is true for .375 length cartridges? Does the Wisner spring buy you an extra round?
