T.CarrBasic Questions on 458WM - 458 Lott
Ladies and Gentlemen,
If you were going to convert a rifle to .458 Lott, isn't it better to start off with .375 H&H length action than with a 458 WM length action (since the Lott is based on the .375 cartridge)? Isn't the .458 WM significantly shorter than the .375 H&H and .458 Lott, thereby requiring the removal of some metal from the action in order to fit the Lott? If you start with a 458 WM, I assume you would not have to rebarrel as you would if you started with a .375 H&H. I am assuming you would have to replace the bottom metal on the 458 WM action, do you have to replace the bottom metal on the .375 H&H action?
Can you tell I know next to nothing about gunsmithing?
Regards,
Terry

T.CarrJohn,
Thanks for the link. I'll do a better job of using the "search" function next time.
