I am in need of a new or used Remington 700 Short action, ADL or BDL, 223 308 or magnum bolt face. It should be serviceable and not too beat up. What have you?

I haven't seen any on the auction sites for some time.

Since I never owned a remington in my life I never kept up with what is scarce in remingtons. Why would a short action be so scarce and worth $6000.00. For that price it might be worth just cutting a bunch of them in half and taking some length out of them and welding them back together.
