<Ben H>Sukalle Barrels
A good friend of mine recently gave me an un-threaded .22 barrel blank. He said it was given to him in the 1950's by an Arizona barrel maker friend of his named Bill Sukalle. I remember some mention of Mr. Sukalle in Elmer Keith's writings. I would like to hear from anyone who has experience with these barrels, how they were rifled, how they performed, etc.
Thanks in Advance,
Ben

TGetzen"Gunsmithing" by Dunlop (sp?) has many references to him -- if I remember correctly he ran a custom / high grade barrel works and gun shop in Arizona. I think he did a lot with Mausers. Author Dunlop seems to have a very high opinion of his work.

<Don Martin29>I recall Sukalle as one of the top prewar barrel makers. Buhmiller and Eric Johnson were two of the others.
The barrel really did count with the .22 LR cartridge. It was not as important as the bullets then in jacketed cartridges as the B&A dies and Sierra bullets were not avaiable then.
