<mark s>pac-nor barrels
Does anybody have any experience with Pac-Nor barrels? I know they are not among the trendy and expensive brands. I'm putting together a .338-06 based on a Howa 1500. I want the .06 barrel removed and have a .338 barrel screwed on. Are the Pac-Nor's any good. I need hunting accuracy, not match grade. Good enough for 200 - 250 yards. Thanks. I appreciate your thoughts. Mark

John RicksPac Nor Super Match Stainless runs about $230 including shipping, comparable to Shilen or Lilja in price, I think they are better in quality. CrMo is about $200. I use a lot of them, some rifles (depending on cartridge and consturction) have been one holers with less than 0.050" groups. The big bore barrels are outstanding in the accuracy department also, I have had 375's shoot 3/8" groups and 458's shoot 1/2" groups. Look on my web site for some 416 Rem targets, shot with a Pac Nor, they will impress you.

Bob338I have 6 of them, 5 stainless and one chromoly. 4 are 338's and all shoot. The others are .22 and 7mm. Not only do they shoot, but break in easily. Also have Douglas and Shilen. I prefer the Pac-Nor.

RobgunbuilderI have become a true believer in Pac-Nor. I love the way their steel machines and they are very nice people to deal with. Send them your whole gun and they will do all the gunsmithing you want at very reasonable prices. By the way I'd expect < 1 MOA accuracy from any Pac-Nor barrel and not settle for less.-Rob

<Ross Spagrud>IMHO they are the best available barrel
for most needs. I have used them in 17
to 50 BMG with superb results and am currently awaiting one of their first barrels
for the 408 Chey Tac.
