Hoffman and Company 1903 rear sight/bolt sleeve/Safety
As a payment for getting someones Star Sizer operational I was given the above described piece. Looks like some lathe time and rebuild time was rewarded.

The safety (three position), bolt sleeve and a rear receiver sight is one unit. It even has a place to store an extra eyepiece for the sight.

All other pieces seem to be normal, though the firing pin may have been modified to operate with the unique safety mechanism.

It was completely frozen up with rust, but thanks to good Ol KROIL I got it worked loose and judicious use of diamond files removed rust so it will work FREELY.

Missing is the staff of the receiver sight. What's the chance of finding one of those?

It will be interesting to see if something from a Lyman can be installed/fitted.

ONLY marking is

Hoffman Co.
Cleveland OH

Any crusty Old F... gunsmiths out there ever hear of it?
Seeking any information

I am assuming they no longer exist since my Dudkduckgo.com search (I don't use the google spyware) Looking for the name/city only found older guns for sale in auction houses.

Interesting piece of history.
Does the bolt retain the cocking piece?

You might want to post your question in the classic rifle section on doublegunshop.com. Wealth of information there usually.
