ramrod340Someone to rough shape a stock.
Thanks to several of your suggestions I getting ready to build my wife a 7X57 Mannlicker. I have a very pretty English Walnut blank to make it from. It should be plenty long. I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age. Can anyone recommend someone with a duplicator that can rough shape it for me? I would prefer someone you have used and are satisfied with.

GrandViewThe last two mannlicher stocks I had machined from my blanks were done by Great American Gunstocks, and Dennis Olson respectively. GAG machined to their pattern, and I built the pattern for Dennis to duplicate.
For obvious reasons, I preferred the one from Dennis. Much less work inletting and shaping. If you don't have a pattern, and depending upon what your action is, and what style stock you're looking for........Dennis has told me he can machine a mannlicher from most of his regular patterns. The barrel channel will be a starter groove, and the forearm thickness will be much stouter than final finish. It will need both finish inletting and much trimming. I highly recommend Dennis.....he does good work.

jeffeossocosts range from 75 bucks to 150.. mostly around the middle
if you don't have a pattern, you can have just about anyone turn their pattern into your blank... but remember, it's YOUR blank, and if there are any checks or faults in it, they can't be held accountable for it.
call gag and TALK to henry.... but make sure bill turns it

Gringo Cazadorramrod,
To get a blank duplicated, Mike Kokolus is the best in my books. Not sure he has a Mannlic pattern, but would guess he does. He can typicaly get one back to you in a 2-3 weeks. I'll put his work up against anybody in the business. Some of the other guys on AR have used him also. Let me know if you want his number.
