Was the watch a RADO ? They have ceramic coating

No, I believe it was Chanel, or however you spell it. I only noticed it because it had a nice blued finish. How well have the RADO watches finish held up?

I do not know how well the finish holds up on the RADO watches. But i played with a new one and I grinded it up against a beer botle and it did not show on the watch.
Real strong stuff, expensive process i would imagine
