stronger action
I understand this may be a difficult question to answer but which would be the stronger action, a '91 Mauser or an '04 Vergueiro ?
I have a Vergueiro that I rebarrelled to 7.65x53 with a take-off 23" 1909 Argy barrel and I would like to get about 2400 fps with a 179gr pill......would the 'guese be strong enough for this sort of load ?

I would think that both would be suitable. The Verguiero was re-chambered to 8x57 and used extensively.

I’ve got a Vergueiro Mauser that z1r rebarreled to 7x57 and have had no problems.

It is easy to answer this one; the 04 is stronger, and will handle gas better.
But questions like this are always interesting, and largely academic; it is usually (not always), not the absolute strength that is important; but the way they handle escaping gas in case of a total case failure. Which basically never happens these days. Read PO Ackley blow up tests.
I limit the 91s to cartridges like 35 Rem; 40K psi and below. Mostly because of the soft ish steel.
