can this be done a 416 rem mag out of a 7mm mag bdl action?

You might be happier turning your present rifle into a 7mm Weatherby Magnum and picking up a Winchester Model 70 in 7mm STW (they go cheap) for conversion to a 416 Rem Mag.
If you decide to dance with the one that brung ya, have your gunsmith polish the rails and feed ramp.

Yes it can be done, the Rem700 action is easily "opened" to take the H&H length case. There will more than likely be some fiddling with the feed but nothing major.

Dan in WaDo not have to open up a long action Rem. Just screw on a .416 barrel and probably a .375 follower ih the magazine well.
