Jeffe:
I looked at my 338/378 Acc Mark and took some measurements.
I am not sure if they are help.
The Weatherby does not have feedrails as we know them the mag. box holds two (not stagered) shells.
The box dimensions are as follows: the back part of the box 1.900" has to feed lips bent inward, the front measures .489" the rear.520" these measurements are smaller then the case (.570"X .580")when a cart. is loaded the feedlips are forced to open to let the shell pass by.

The action (where the feedrail nomaly sits) measures:.660" at the front and rear, as you can see this is much bigger than the cart.diam.
When the gun is loaded the bolt forces the shell up the feedramp untill it clears the mag. lips and then just lays there with no contact with the action.

I hope you can follow my explanation , it maybe of some help,I can give you some dim.on a smooth feeding .416R ??
