lawndartThanks SDH,
I can't carve a stock, but I sure know a good one.
Nice engraving! Understated. No wonder Weatherby round-filed Roger's resume.

ScrollcutterHey Steve,
Now that I see it, I do remember the rifle. Or, rather the engraving job. Most likely a mid to late 80's job. Rarely did I see the completed rifles. The metal would show up polished, perfect and ready to go, with a note reading "Do your thing". Hehe.
Honestly, though, we normally talked on the phone 4-5 times a week. So the work was already hashed out by the time it showed up. Sure do miss Maurice.
Thanks for the photographs.

Mark_StrattonI think we all miss Maurice, he was a great rifle builder, but a nicer guy.

CustomstoxMark,
Very well said. I was on the phone with Monika last night and as always we spoke about him and she told me that he had told her a lot of tricks he used in gunmaking and she wrote them down. I suspect that Maurice had some that none of us ever thought of. She says they are all on a pad she has kept but she wrote them in GERMAN. Imagine that is a lot more natural for her. She did say in the future she will dictate them to a tape deck and send it to me and I will write them out. I thought it might be a fitting thing to have them published in the Gunmaker with his name on it as the author.
