ClemsonWhich Model 70 Calibers
in pre-64 actions came with a guide opposite the extractor that rotates with the extractor? I have a 257 Roberts in the shop that has a guide (I presume it's a guide) about 2"long. My 270 has no such guide.

dpcdThat is not a "guide"; that is a bolt stop. Called a bolt stop extension; they were 3 of them, so with the option of none, make 4 possible bolt throws in the pre 64 Model 70. The reason your 270 does not have it is that the bolt needs all the travel it can get.

BNagelBased on his advice for my .257 Rbts bolt -- listen to dpcd. Call it done.

LHeym500I would think the 22 Hornet would have such an extension. Never looked at one close enough to know, but it would make sense.

dpcdHere are the ones that have extensions;
1. 22 Hornet
2. 250 Savage and 35 Remington
3. 257 Roberts, 220 Swift and the 308 family
4. None.
Making 4 bolt throw lengths.
I guess all the Model 70 collectors no longer read AR.

AtkinsonWas the pre 64 Win. ever chambered for the 22-250, as I have never seen one or heard of one??

dpcdNo, I meant to type 250-3000 but my fingers didn't follow my brain.
