Remington bolt question
The bolt on my Rem model 7 (7-08) appears to have a seperation or crack on the top of bolt body where the lugs are attached to the bolt. It runs in a line around the body between the the two lugs and can be felt by running your finger nail across the the line. There is no sign of a line on the bottom of the bolt.
I have not seen this on any other of my Rems and wonder if this is a potential problem or the way the bolt is manufactured.
Anyone seen this before and can offer an explanation?
Thanks, Chief

Without seeing the bolt, I would guess that what you are seeing is the seam beyween bolt head and body. Rem bolt heads are a separate peice from the body. If you are concerned with safety send it to Rem.

Photos would be very helpful here.

Didn't know the bolt head was a seperate part from the bolt body. I'm sure this seam is what I see.
Thanks for the reply.
Chief.

Sorry, unable to post pictures.

Rem. bolts are steel tubes with a bolt head and handle brazed on. There's no problem being able to feel the seanm where the head joins the body as long as the locking lugs are rotating into place when you lower the handle!
