What type of front sight would you use...
on a 7x57 with a Mannlicher style stock? I am rebarreling to a 7x57 and want to know if a banded front sight is used or one that is screwed to the top. I am going to restock with a full length stock and I don't know what type of front sight is common or should I say classic for this type of rifle style.

PS: suggestions on the rear sight choice are also welcomed

As always, photos would be most welcome as well as helpful.

Either no one has an opinion (and I can't believe that)on this or it doesn't matter what type you use.

Actually the banded would be my choice as I favor the strength and normal good looks. It would be slightly more inletting and would hide a bit of the beauty, but always use the best as it is cheaper in the long run.

Look at the pictures posted by "ForrestB" of his Mannlicher 7x57. It is nearly perfect!...........DJ

Go whole-hog and get a full-rib barrel from Martini-Hagn with integral ramp. I belive that's what's on ForrestB's Weibes.

Use a longish sweat-on or screw-on front ramp. Be sure however, to use a Mauser like rectangular post in lieu of something more modern like a brass bead. If you look at most old Mausers, you'll see a single rectangular post on a longish ramp. The banded sights appear on the more African style rifles.

While I'm not a fan of Remingtons this custom shop mannlicher is a very pleasing gun to my eyes.

This Williams streamlined and hooded front sight from Brownells would look a lot like that Remington sight.
