Grip cap screws
Does anybody know of a source of extra screws for the Fisher 2 screw grip cap or know whom or where they are sourced. Thanks.

I’ve had to make them in a pinch. I’d rather buy some but I’m usually not that patient.

Jerry Fisher will sell you some. If like me, you tell him what an idiot you are for wrecking them, he might not even charge you.

Keep a set of using screws handy, I ruined half a dozen before I figured out to use them to build the rifle, then blue and install the screws that come with the grip cap on the finished gun..

The heads twisted off after years of sitting in the stock. A set of spares would have been beneficial. 20+ years is along time for foresight; If I live another 20 I'm good to go.

Do you know you can buy a special size tap for those screws, sure helps when putting them on.

After fitting, not a bad idea to case harden...the material in these is "free machining" i.e. leaded dead soft

Correct, they did not even budge before the heads twisted off. Any tips on how to harden at home; kasenit is off the table, no longer available.

I just checked MSC for an 8-24 tap. A mere $35 + $15 shipping + tax. It's hard to justify paying that much for such a small tap even if it is a special thread. For comparison, a common tap like 10-32 is about $6.

A lot of vendors sell smaller quantities. Link above is to the manufacturer with spec sheets & msds.
