yellowdog1Polishing Browning satin finish to shine it up
The neighbor won a BPS in a raffle and wants a shiny finish rather than the satin finish Browning put on it. I'm guessing it is one of the 2-part epoxy type finishes and could be polished to a shine with auto polish, rather than a complete refinish.
Has anybody ever done this and what type/brand polish worked for you?
Thanks, yellowdog

MasteriflemanI assume your talking stock and not metal?

Glen71No first hand experience with Browning "satin" stock finish, but it may be "satin" because of an additive to the epoxy. If so, polishing the surface probably won't yield the desired result.

yellowdog1Yes, its the stock and I'm an idiot for leaving that out.

Doc224/375Rule of thumb for polishing most any surface either spit or wet the surface if it becomes shiny
than 9 times out of 10 it will polish just fine . If it does not appear shiny once it's been wet
than as already been stated it has a flattening agent added to whatever surface finish has been
previously applied . It's easy enough to rectify by simply removing all the metal and cleaning the
stock with a slight fine sanding and apply a shiny finish . Test an area of the finish to ensure compatibility
of finishes .
