adam2LEFT HAND EXTRACTOR CUT
I have a left-hand crf action (GMA) for which I have acquired a 416 Rigby chambered barrel. The extractor cut on the breech end of the barrel is, as is normal, in the 3h00 position. For a left hand action it must off course be in the 9h00 position. Can a new extractor "notch" simply be machined into the 9h00 position? What to do with the existing extractor cut? Thanks, Adam

Jim KobeNot sure is the barrel in question has sights or not. If it is a plain barrel, why not just index it 180deg?

Thanks Jim - yes the sights and barrel band are aligned for a right hand extractor.

WestpacYou have two choices. Set the barrel back enough to form a new cone and make a new extractor cut, or, since it isn't likely to interfere with feeding, you can ignore the one on the right side and cut a new one on the left. That would be your call.
