Montana 1999 barreled actions
Anyone order one of these yet? Is so, can you give me any feedback - good or bad. I'm looking into a 300wsm or 325wsm.
Thanks

Ol` Joe
Run a search on them here and you`ll find a months worth of reading.
I`ve one I had them chamber in 6.5x284 but haven`t had much time to play with it yet. The barrel seems to shoot well with the couple of rounds I`ve put through mine and cleans up well. The action needs a bit of breaking in, it`s a tad stiff but doesn`t bind or show any problem areas that a little working won`t cure. For the money I`m happy. Some aren`t happy with the finish on theirs and do a little touch up polishing, but a matte finish is a cheap cure if you can live with it.

tlp335,

MRC built me a 25-284 that I'm very happy with. It is a 25", #3 contour, SS that cleans easily and is shooting 100 gr. TSX under an inch with very little load development so
far & not even bedded yet.

The matte SS finish is very appealing to me
and way cheaper than blueing a chrome moly
setup.

You may check out Serengeti's "Ghost" kit.
It is an MRC action, barrel & one of their laminated stocks. It seems to be a pretty good deal. I went with an Accurate Innovations
"Golden Hunter" stock which has an aluminum bedding block in a very nice looking walnut.

Good Luck with your project, Bruce
