Austin HunterSource for M98 Magnum length action screws
In 6mmx0.75 thread for a ZG47.
I have a drop box SunnyHill bottom metal.
I've tried NECG and Sunnyhill. I have a note into Forester.
Blanks would be fine as well (I've asked the three above that question as well)
Thanks!

Austin Hunterthat's my backup plan - socket head screw.

dpcdJust whip them out on your lathe.

Austin HunterTherein lies the problem - no lathe! I have a friend I'm going to ask to see if he will turn some.

kda55Call your local community college and see if they have a machine shop program. They could turn them for practical experience. Being in Austin this might be a stretch but who knows. Might have to tell then they are for your electric lawn mower or other stupid project.

Duane Wiebe (CG&R)Assume you only need the front screw? If so, I've ot a bunch...oversized and higher head for custom application 4130 alloy

Michael RobinsonHere is the process I used to make socket (hex) head action screws sized M6-0.75 for my CZ 550 Magnum actioned rifles.
Kind of time-consuming but it was the best I could do after scouring the market for the right sized screws and coming up empty.
Start with Brownells 1/4 inch diameter socket head long blank screws.
Then shorten and convert them to correct length M6 screws with a 0.75 pitch as follows:
- Shorten the rear screw to 41.6 mm shank length and the front screw to 24.8 mm. Your lengths may vary.
- Turn down the head to around 9.9 mm diameter. Box stock height of the head is fine.
- Turn down the portion of the shank at the end of the screw to 0.234-0.236 inch diameter.
- Use an M6-0.75 die to thread the screws.
Only about 10.5 mm of the end of the shank needs threading.
I did the turning on an old Unimat mini-lathe. Great tool for this kind of job.
I've got some left over blank screws if you want or need any.
Good luck!

AtkinsonSocket heads are a nightmare IMO, Torx is the only way to go or is better option anyway. otherwise give me a slotted head and a fitted screw driver.
