Mauser ? again
I have Model 98 that i'm wondering what to do with. I will try to discribe it. The guard screws are about 9 5/8 in. apart the reciever at the front is about 1.42 in. wide. Left front of reciever has written this on it.
Kpalbenha Jyrocnabnja Middle of reciever has ATP.Tex.3ABOA-KparyJEBAII Top front has MoRen 1924 This action doesn't seem as smooth as my 1909 Argen. The gun has been sporterized new barrel, stock, trigger. Needs a blue job. Right now its a 308 Win cal. Was wondering if that would be safe or if I should sell it and start with something better.

I know that you don't have a Cyrillic keyboard, so I am guessing at what some of the letters really are. Offhand, it appears to be of Yugoslavian manufacture.

Appears to be Yugoslavian(cryllic writing). If its a Model 1924 it was designed for the 8x57 ss cartridge. In good condition it should easily handle the .308. Only way to be sure is to have a gunsmith check it. Better check that screw spacing again-should be 7inches and a fraction, not 9. Make sure you measure center to center. 7 13/16 ths would be a standard length action. If its 1/4" shorter it is an intermediate length.

Yugoslavian with a 24 is either an FN made intermediate length, or a Yugo copy (which were pretty good). Nice actions. Check your screw spacing measurements, they don't sound correct as someone else pointed out. I don't have mine handy to measure -- if I get a chance later, I will post it.

The screw spacing is 7 not 9 started with the 2 on the tape measure because the end is worn away. My mistake even thought about it and still put down wrong number. Guess I'll keep messing around with it than. Thanks for the reply's.
