It is relatively simple....... Take that scope off, put on a Leupold/Burris/Nikon/new Zeiss/Swarovski etc. and adjust as per the instructions in the box.

That looks like a candidate for the Smithsonian. Maybe Zeiss can send you an instruction manual if they still have one laying around in their bone yard. Definately an interesting piece!

It's an old scope and I believe all adjustments are contained in the single turret. Among the 3 screws, 2 should control elevation and windage and the third is the lockup. If they're not marked, finding which is which should be possible, using a collimator to watch reticle movement. Keep us posted about results.

In the old European scopes the vertical adjustment it's regulated by the only turret, the horizontal movement it's adjusted via rear base , sometimes if well cared very good scopes , just test it.

May I suggest offering that scope for sale to a scope collector and purchasing a nice 4x Leupold M8?

Well interesting responses. The gun belongs to my father who believes the gun is almost as old as he is and bought the gun for just that purpose. The gun shoots dead on at 100 yards with hunting handloads it is a small dia tube. all marking are worn off. I have Already contacted zeiss and the scope is older than any info they have on file and stated it is from early 1900's

From the general information that Zeiss sent us and trying to match up parts you have to loosen one of the four screws on the turret and then adjust the turret.

Daniel M
From your description you are describing what the previous owner has been doing from the screw heads on the rear base which still look very good that is how horizontal adjust was made. The chrome screw and the turret does the vertical.

Well after reading your posts I went back to the letter from Zeiss and I think I may understand it. I will try it at our next trip to the shooting range.

I told him the same thing. Replave it with something he can see out of.

Thanks RNS
