SempreElkReally stupid question about iron sights
I purchased a used Browning rifle with no iron sights . I purchased sights and will put them on to make the gun more aesthetically pleasing. Is Loctite Used on these screws?

Claven2not if you tighten them properly
If you do use loctite, use the removable stuff.

ramrod340If I was going to the trouble of putting sights on the rifle I woudl put a touch of the removable loctite. Probably wouldn't need it it sure wouldn't hurt anything.

<9.3x62>Some blue loctite couldn't hurt. I'd avoid the red - it can be a nightmare to remove...

SempreElkThe rear sight uses a single screw not sure what size it is but is less then 6/48 and I am thinking that is the one that may need some loctite. The 2 front ramp screws are 6/48 and I'll leave them alone. Thanks for the replies.

Rick 0311For what it’s worth, Leupold and Premier reticle did some tests a few years ago on different methods for attaching scope bases and they found that a light coating of a good grade machine oil on the screw threads gave the best results.
