Casidiam coating AGAIN
quote:
Casidiam®, a hard carbon thin film coating, solves wear and friction problems for high performance mechanical components. It has become the coating of choice for precision components where durability and low friction are essential to success.

Have you guys followed up on this more to see if it is a viable firearms option. I know its properties are as good or better than other coatings, and this one actually looks like blueing. I would be interested for my custom it it is.

I'm kind of stuooopid so could someone explain how they are using Newtons to specify hardness.

quote:
Hardness 9,100 N /mm2

No mention of ball size, penetration, mass, etc.

Must be an English thing or a typo. Maybe get Nute to look at this.

I think you will be waiting a long time. I was looking for help from someone who has used it.

1 newton/square millimeter = 145.037738 pound/square inch

Uhh......yeah........I can handle the math Boss! I was wondering what methodology is used correctly or otherwise to relate force to surface hardness given an unknown standard. Take a look at commonly used international standards for hardness. Newtons of what?....figs?
