Craig Nolan.358 Norma Mag
Is it possible and/or feasible to rechamber and rebarrel a Ruger MKII in .280 Rem to .358 Norma Mag?? any information, tips, leads to gunsmiths in NorCal are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Craig Nolan

DutchIf you can, you would still be looking at changing the magazine and bolt. Might be cheaper to start with something like a 338WM, then you can just sping the barrel off and put a 358 on. Of course, if you have a 338, there is no real difference if you change it to 358Norma, or not.
Just rambling... Dutch.

<allen day>Craig, it would be more cost-effective to trade your Ruger .280 in on another Ruger (if you want to stick with that action) in 7mm Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag., or .338 Win. Mag. for conversion to .358 Norma. With any of these three chamberings, the bolt face, feed rails, magazine box, follower, and extractor are already of the correct size to work perfectly with the .358 Norma cartridge. All you need is a new barrel and a good bedding job to be in business....
