8.15x46 mauser
I have a Mauser barrel chambered in 8.15x46r that I'm fitting to a
Vz24 action. I'm gonna have to set barrel back about 1/2 turn to index properly. I checked on the reamer rental site's just on the chance they would have one but no go. I don't think that a chamber that's about .04 short on a obsolete round would be a problem,, but that's my question. Is it? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I guess you could have custom dies made. Grind off thw base of std dies. But best way simply do it right.

As usual just my $.02

Thanks for the replies,, my first choice is to do it right but finding a reamer was my problem. a chamber .04 shorter would reduce case body dia. only .0011 if i did my math correctly, that same .04 trimmed off bottom of dies would solve the short chamber problem, but again, that's not my first choice. I am aware of the extractor mod. I like doing these projects myself and i didn't know how many smiths would have reamers in this caliber in the U.S. dpcd will send a pm shortly. any and all opinions welcome. Thanks again.

Thats and old Schützen caliber and there is hundreds of different chamberings. Every smith and his son back in the 1890's made their own reamers and you will find that you fireform your cases and then work them as little as possible because the dies dont fit good.

I have a small ring Mauser with a Krupp barrel put together in october 1937.
First i made cases of the correct length and got Tom at accuratemolds.com to do me a stopring bullet filling the rifling. Then i FL sized 30-30 cases and kept them as long as they was. Remember most all 8.15x46R has loooong throats and are designed for stopring bullets! And got Tom to do me a borerider, thinking it would center the bullet better. Big mistake!!!
For some reason the fat bullet that has to push through the throat is way more accurate.

Top one is full length 30-30 and borerider
Bottom one is standard length and fat bullet

I did email jgs for price of a reamer,, $210.00 with 6 week lead time. dpcd has been pm'ed for approx. price for his services. dane, thanks for the pic's and insight, after reading your post I'm going to do a chamber cast tomorrow and see what I have, then talk to jgs about the dimensions of their reamer. I (its really my wife's) have a drilling in the same caliber that I have never shot. when I started this project I had the intention of loading a few rounds for the it... anyway,, thanks again for the replies.
