Zastava action screw threads?
Hi all

I tried googling this, but so far no result.

I want to make a fixture to hold a Zastava M70 receiver while I work on various parts of the action. Can anyone tell me the thread/pitch for the two action screws? Note, I am asking about the two screws that connect the action to the bottom metal, not the barrel tenon or the screws for sight bases on the top of the receiver.

Thanks!

If you have the action why don't you just measure the screws for pitch and diameter? If you have no screws then cast some screws from epoxy or bondo and measure that.

Thanks for the confirmation. I tried a 1/4" but it didnt feel right. Might have been the pitch though.

Zastava M70? I thought they only made Mauser 98 copies. M98's use 1/4 X 22 action screws.

Zastava m70 looks very much like Mauser m98:

The design is the commercial FN Model 98 Mauser action - FN sold their M98 manufacturing equipment to Zastava. M70 is Zastava's 'line' designation for the action- I'm presuming a designation of 1970 for their manufacturing initiation of the action.

I'd be guessing (and it is guessing) that the M70 comes from the fact that US rifles sell better if they have a 7 in the model - Mod70, M77, Mod700, Mod7.
