lawndartBuilding 338 Lapua Magnums on Rem 700 actions.
I believe we beat this topic to death in 2006 or 2007, with the consensus being that the rim left was insufficient.
I notice now that 338 Lapua Magnum detachable magazines are available from several vendors, also modified and extra long magazine boxes. You can buy bolt releases modified to the correct length, and so on.
Is it now considered acceptable for poor folks to modify a long action Remington receiver instead of writing a check for a larger Surgeon, Barnard, Stiller or Defiance action?
Two rings, three rings, it's all good for me, I could never pay attention to everything that was going on at the circus anyway.
Any thought by people who have done this modification would be most welcome. Input from the 'smiths here that I respect who hold the opposite view are equally welcome.

D HumbargerLD I wonder if anyone has tried rebating the 338L case to fit a Rem ultra bolt face?

WestpacThere is enough rim to left to do what it is supposed to. To hold and support the case head.
I've done 2 Lapua's on the 700 action. One has the Kiff bolt and one I modified. Both of these were single shot configurations, but with the Seekins Mag assembly, these guy's may want to convert theirs to repeaters.

D HumbargerI wish that "Seeking Precision" had photos of the actual units rather than those drawings.

Maybe I'll dust off the ol' "square shooter 2" when that Seekins comes in and shoot you a picture. That is if I can find a Photomat.
