tnekkccI don't need a 4th lathe, but that one was a real deal, and someday I will get one like that, with original paint.
The Fox and the Lathe- a poem by Phillip King
There was a fox
who had a lathe
he snatched it from
a scrapyard grave
a raving beauty
he said ''it aint''
all it needs
is a coat of paint
He got a mop
and slopped the top
he sprayed the label
the best he was able
he dragged it out
and took it to market
on ebay was
where he would park it
There was a squirrel
who wanted this tool
there was one problem
he was a fool
For he did not know
good from ####y
he thought southbend
was just a city
He said to the fox
it's your lathe I adore
but I just dont know
I'm just not shure
Look my friend
it's all shiny and new
but please dont touch
it's all sticky with goo
But how does it work
and how does it go
these are the things
Id like to know
Never you mind
the whirling gears
this big gray beauty
has been in service for years
Just look at the finish
look at it gleam
dont mind the grease
that lays in between
The squirrel stood back
and scratched his head
and took a deep breath
for what was about to be said
Wait a minute Mr. Fox
I'm not a fool
the tool I crave
would be a jewel
I wont fall
for all this blather
for all I know
its a slathered cadaver

lawndartHey Butch,
It looks like it sold.
Much better to spend one's life as a firearms engraver than a golf club maker.
If the good gun guys were paid commensurate with the joy and beauty they bring into this world, there would be a fair bunch of gazillionaires posting on AR.

That is true. There is a Goodwill Thrift store on my way home. Guys throw away golf clubs by the hundreds. I guess golf clubs do not bring much joy.

butchlambertgsp,
I really don't know if it is all gone or not. You might get in touch with my Uncle with the info on the Practical Machinest Forum. I'm afraid with the prices asked, it is probably all gone. I really liked the SOB that saw the post, ran over to Ralph's house saying how much he admired Ralph's work and wanted something of his and also to help her out. He was very gratious and offered her $600 for the lathe and tooling. His time will come, I just wish I am around when it happens.
