MRAMSAY10What can a 300win be re-chambered to?
Hey again guys. I bought a Win 70 with a Shilen 26" barrel. The bolt face has been trued and it has been pillar bedded. I was wondering with this setup, if it could be rechambered to be a 30-338 Lapua. If not, what would be a great cartridge to be modified to?

MarkFor North America if you want a better cartridge than a 300 winnie I'd say go with a 338 Win Mag.
Of course I'm saying that for my own personal preferences as I've never had a 300 WM, and am happy with a 30-06 for that category.
If you want to keep this barrel and find a huge 30 caliber for it, I'd suggest a 300 RUM over a lapua based wildcat.

homebrewerAnother site on which I am a member and which has a rebarrel/rechamber tool lists the 458WinMag as your only choice. Apparently, choices are very limited if you want to keep the same boltface, magazine box length and are willing to rebore. The Lap has a face of .590 inches, which would open up a larger pool of possibilities. You'd have to have the feed rails opened up to allow such a fatter cartridge to pass reliably. Time to do more contemplating before spending any money...

DMansonHello MRAMSAY10:
Bear in mind that the M70 utilizes a 1" receiver thread. This is not as large as the 1 1/16" Remington thread, which is considered marginal for 338 Lapua-based calibers. Better to stick with standard belted cartridges.
