attaching an Ivory grip cap
I purchased a sliced, lengthwise, section of hippo ivory at SCI.

I have cut a piece of it off and flattened the bottom and shaped it into a grip cap for a 9.3x62 I am building.

What is the best way to attached it to the wood?

Would epoxy hold well enough if I roughed up the bottom of the cap and the wood?

I will drill it if I have to but would prefer not to have a screw head show. It has the rough textured surface showing on top.

thanks in advance

For ivory I would mill a key hole slot in the bottom with a slightly generous fit. A matching screw in the grip; with that and a roughed up bottoms surface I would accraglas it in.
A hole through it for a traditional screw gives the ivory a great place to start cracking.

Properly done with accraglas you would have to destroy the stock to remove it. Rough both surfaces, degrease clean and clamp. Done
