333_OKHCommercial FN 98 Actions
I have a few questions, like how many sizes of these things are there. Are the ones chambered for the 243 and 308 actually short actions or are they just standard length actions?

TC1One size fits all. .243 to .375H&H

333_OKHDoes this make for a sloppy action is you are using a 22-250 on a 375H&H action?

browningguyNope, a little longer than required but I've never heard of anyone calling an FN Mauser action sloppy.

333_OKHI need an overall length of only 3.125 inches. How much longer are these actions?

333_OKHI have seen these as Husqvarnas, Firearms International, and various Department store brands. Are they all the same?

The standard length magasine is about 3.35" long.
HVA and Sako used the FN actions in the forties and fifties.

333_OKHSO how do they use the 375 in this action?

ramrod340Depending on which commercial you are talking about some had a spacer in the back of the box with the shorter follower. I know the MKx did and I thought I saw one in an FN but I have been wrong in the past.
Normally when they used th action for the 375 they cut the front of the box out and moved it forward then cut down the feed ramp to match. Some were lengthened in the back but more work is required.

Those guns are made for shorter people, of which I am far from it! Too late the ball is already rolling. Winchester would not even build me a rifle with the 15 1/4 inch LOP unless I agreed to use a 1 inch pad minimum.
