Win 70 safety problems
I have recently purchased a second hand 7 wsm, after having a play with it I found that the safety does not retain the firing pin from firing in any position. The only mod that I can see, is that it has a Timmeny trigger on it. Has anyone any clues to what it could be, or herd of this happening before.
Cheers

Just a guess here, but it sounds like somebody was to aggressive with their filing when the Timney trigger was installed. The triggers have too much metal on them and have to be fitted to the existing safety. If even just one file stroke too much is taken away the trigger will not contact the safety, making it useless. Get a new Timney trigger and have a competent gunsmith install it.

I would take the rifle back to where you got it and get my money back. Now if you got it really cheap then I would just replace the Timney with the orginal Winchester trigger.

If you already have that rifle scoped and got some ammo for it why not see how it shoots? Thats what a rifle is for. If it's really accurate and the fired brass comes out round along with a good price I would replace the Timney.

If you want the trigger replaced for you call up your Winchester repair center. They may do it for free or a nominal charge.

A M70 thats used for big game hunting should have the orginal trigger on it. Thats the best one.
