Winchester M670 questions?
Who makes a good blind mag replacement stock? This is going to be a long term project and would like to start feeling out prices. The rifle is currently a .30-06 but I would like to build another .338-06 on it. Thinking I'd like to have a 8.5 lb rifle or less with sling, scope, and loaded mag but would prefer it closer to 8 lbs total weight.

I don't really want to add bottom metal to this rifle unless that is my only option for a good quality stock. Thinking some sort of synthetic stock, 22" Pac-Nor, Douglas, or Shilen barrel, KG Gun Kote finish, Talley rings and bases, and a Leupold VX3 2.5-8X36.

Any long action model 70 stock will work.

I know but the ones I'm finding are not blind mags and I'd have to pick up some bottom metal. I haven't seen very many blind mag stocks. I'm wanting to know who makes some good quality synthetic stocks with this feature for the M70.

If you want a wood stock I might have a couple somewhere. The Winchester Black Shadow stocks are blind and you should be able to find one of those pretty cheap. Look on CDNNs site and see if they have any. I might have some of those also. I'll check for you. You can also fiber glass up the hole in the bottom of a regular stock and make it blind.

srose hit it on the head, CDNNinvestments.com has factory stocks with a blind magazine for $39.99 (Item# WINST25) and it's a synthetic.

Higher end companies like McMillan offer with or without floorplate stocks.

Thanks, I didn't care for the Super Shadow stocks. Don't really want wood, I'll take a closer look at the higher end synthetics. There is nothting wrong with the original stock other than it is plain.

Just kind of afraid that if I don't start tearing this rifle down as soon as it comes in I will not follow through on the .338-06 build. I usually make the mistake of shooting the donor rifle. Big Grin
