How are model 600 actions for building an accurate hunting/bench rifle?

DB BillThe 600 and the XP-100 both are good actions for the start of a custom rifle...just get rid og f the crooked-leg bolt and put in a decent bolt-release.

<Big Stick>They are a very short/stiff action and that aids accuracy potential.
My favorite rifle is based upon one, with a 700 bolt handle,Rifle Basix trigger,McMillan stock and PacNor barrel.
It continues to impress me.............

mbundyI love the Model 600 action for 'short' cartridges, such as those based on the .308. I have a custom 7-08 "improved" built on a Model 600 action. HS precision camo stock, bolt and barrel are fluted, trigger replaced and a custom bolt release has been added, topped off with a Leupold 2.8-8 scope. Total weight...About 7lbs.
