CZ Rifles and Test TArgets
Hello CZ owners.

For all of you that are shooting CZ rifles. Are the test targets that come from the factory a good indicator of the rifle's accuracy potential? Do rifles with large test target groups turn out to be dogs? What were the group sizes for some of your rifles in various calibers?

Thanks

Sorry about posting the same discussion twice. I didn't realize the first try went through.

I have found them to be very close to the performance I get with both my 452 (22LR) and my 550 (6.5X55).

most rifles are capable of much better accuracy than the test target in most cases. Sometimes I think they must be shooting wolf or something. most people report much better accuracy than the test target, so If you like a rifle that doesn't have that great a test target I wouldn't worry about it. I have 2 CZ's the varmint is capable of averaging .5 or less for 5 shoots with 2 brands of factory stuff, my carbine does the same thing but the average is right at MOA

in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC

Both of my CZ's shoot better than the test targets that came with them, too.

One's a 6.5x55 Mannlicher and the others a 9.3x62 Lux.

Thanks for the help guys. It sounds like this rifle is worth the risk.

The target with my .416 looked great but I'd be hard pressed to think those holes in the paper are the result of a bullet in that caliber Big Grin

Bought a CZ550 American-.270 in 2001. Got it brand new for 260 dollars off of Gunbroker so I can't complain at all! It shoots well and the target it came with is actually worse than what I am able to get handloading (obviously.) I have gotten a little less than an inch for 3 shots using 130 xlc and H4831. I have done absolutely nothing to the rifle. The set trigger was a little funny to get used to, but you don't have to use it. Plan on a set of rings because the rings that come with them, (I thought,) were junk.

My last one in 270W came with a test target with a group of 17mm.
My own groups have been more or less consistently around 20mm and a best one of 8mm! Smiler so I am happy.

Roll Eyes The test target I got with my CZ .223 was good .. my 5 shots at 100 could be covered completely with a dime .. guess it's OK.. the only problem I have with the CZ is the safe being "backwards" thumbdown .. mb :

Mine shot better with hand loads. Each rifle is a world unto itself.

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"
