724wdPO Ackley - Which book for testing
I've been trying to find the destruction testing Ackley did on surplus rifles. I have an Steyr M95 and was thinking about a 7.62x54 conversion. however, i understand the 7.62 operates at greater pressure than the 8x56R. i would like the availability of components and ammo, but dont want a bolt embedded in my forehead. thanks!

elatheI read most of his testing and the 1895 Steyr Straight Pull was not included. Just remember that the Nagant round was an 1891 design.
All you have to do to reduce the pressures is reduce the load.

Volumn 1, Chapter 1 of Ackley's "Handbook for Shooters & Reloaders".
This is still available in soft cover for a reasonable price and hardbound for big buck$.
