jbBrowning Bar cycling problems
My friend has an older but in fabulous shape Bar in 30-06.The only trouble is it doesnt want to cycle reliably.I obtained diassembly instructions and gave it a good cleaning, which seemed to help, but not 100%.What next?It usually has a stovepipe.(fails to completely eject fired round)Anyone have any advise to offer?

Assuming the ammo is full strength, the action spring guide is lubed and the extractor and ejector are good to go, I would next focus my attention on the gas port. Pull the piston and check to make sure it isn't plugged.

If it is not cycling back far enough to catch the next round, I second the advice of checking the gas port.
If it is picking up the next round, check your ejector spring.

mad_jack02Yes check the gas port, then there is an update for the action spring. Next check to make sure nothing is rubbing on the forend wood.

M PursellBe sure to remove the piston from the gas block and clean it. I've seen them so gummed up that I've had to drive them out with a punch. Once cleaned, the problem went away.
Also check the vent hole in the gas regulator, it's the hex head screw on the muzzle end of the gas block. You have to remove it to take the piston out.

jbI have had the gun completetly apart as far as taking the bolt out to clean the inside of the reciever.
And the gas block was very hard to remove. It went back in much easier.Hopefully,it will work fine now.
