<slancey>Winchester 70 or Dakota 76 for custom rifle on short action?
I want to build a custom 22-250 on one of these two actions.
I'll go the whole 9 yards with custom bottom metal, barrel contour, etc.
For reliable function and aesthetic appeal of the final product, which one makes a better foundation?
It will be a medium weight sporter for coyotes and varmints.

vapodogM-70 for me as it's just less costly. After that it's pretty much a toss up.

ColoradoMattIf price is no object, I'd go with the Dakota. It is much better made, and is a better design.
Slancey:
First Stop Guns (605-341-5211) has a Dakota short action for sale on Guns America under the category Dakota Rifles. It is about $400 under the normal price from Dakota. They are good people to deal with!
