6-48 oversize

For those of you that tinker with screws and threads, get a 6-48 oversize stp and screws form Brownells.

The work great in two aplications.
First is the obvious, of retapping a striped 6-48 scope base screw hole.

The other is on Weaver rings, if you stripe one of those, you can usually just retap and replace with a new over-size screw and salvage a stripped thread.

I saved the day on a FN front screw today, by using a new screw.

I have used them before and they do work...

A better idea at that point may be to drill and tap all the screws to 8/40, at least on the bases.

Using the .156"X48 (6X48 oversize)allows one "one more chance" @ 8X40. If one goes directly to 8X40, you're done if you "stip it out" again some time.
