444 Marlin rechamber to 445 Super mag?
Your thoughts on getting a 444 Marlin to feed the 445 super mag? Thanks.

A Marlin should feet them. The.445 SM is shorter than the .444 Marlin round. But what would be the advantage of using a shorter, less-powerful load in a .444 rifle (unless it's to have one cart. for both your rifle & pistol). I would be more inclined to try to make the .445 feed in an M94 made for the .44 magnum, instead.

yukon delta,

I agree with eldeguello, there is no reason to choose a cartridge less powerful wich works with more pressure. If you had a .44 mag rifle I can understand to have smth more powerful like .445 Super mag is a good choice.

But the possibilities with .444 marlin are huge. Keep you .444 marlin, it is the best advice I can give you.

Indiana has a new law allowing rifles for deer, for the first time. It must be a pistol cartridge, therefore my intense interest in chambering a 336 for 445. I have read Marlin couldn't get 44 to feed reliably. I'm reaming a 44 single shot to 445, and would really like to get it to work in a 336. If I could get dependable and accurate, I'd even rebarrel, but where to start? Thanks

just get a Puma 92 in 454 casull. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=86546107 I shot one and I liked it a lot.

marlin did make a 336 in 44 mag, but they are rare.

Yes, the Puma looks really nice. I need to scope the rifle (old eyes) and am looking for better than 2 moa accuracy, for a 200 yard deer rifle. For a short handy carbine in a substantial caliber, your choice looks great.

You need to neck the 348 Win or 50 Alaskan case to 44 cal. and make a 444 Alaskan. Beartooth makes a 405 grain bullet for the 444 and you should be able approach 2000 to 2100 fps with that cartridge.
Good luck.

Is the 444 Alaskan a pistol cartridge?
