Is there any way to "de-gloss" a scope without
ruining it?

Not looking to turn it into a Matte finish, but
want to remove some shine?

I can't answer your question but I hate gloss scopes to !!

Try repainting it with flat, heat resistant "Barbeque paint". this is an old trick from a few years back.
