leo-tooConverting rifle chambering to .376 Steyr.
If you did want a .376 Steyr chambering but not in the pro-hunter and with CRF......would it be best to use an existing rifle that was chambered to a standard cartridge(like the '06) or a standard magnum cartridge with belt(like 7 mag)?

HunterJimleo-too,
The two rifles that I know of were both built on former military M98 Mauser actions; these of course were built for standard cartridges (such as the 8X57 and 7X57).
I think this might be a case of use what you have.

Do you have particular actions in mind?

leo-tooEither a model 70 or ruger mkII will do.

LoneEagleTo answer your question, you need to start with an '06 bolt face and have it opened for the .376 rim size. Belted Mags are larger dia, and though they can be welded and made smaller that is just extra work to pay for. Sean

jeffeossoif you want to go cheap cheap
you can take a remington 375 takeoff barrel,
thread and chamber on any small ring ID 98 mauser (turk or mexican) and rechamber...
the mexican mauser works great for mine, but it's a pacnor barrel
