dogcatcher223Suggestions on build?
I am toying with having a 220 Swift built. I want it to have a controlled feed action. Do you guys know if Ruger sells actions only?
I want it to be stainless. Not sure if it is cheaper to just buy a Ruger chambered in the swift, then have it rebarreled, trigger job, and new stock? I want something similar to the varmint model built by Ruger, but i don't want the gray finish they put on, and I want a synthetic stock with a fluted barrel. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Best of luck.....please reconsider.....the .220 S should be in a push feed action....there's absolutely no reason for a CRF in .220 S as prairie dogs don't usually bite badly when they charge. The push feed Savage, Sako, Remington, Winchester, Howa are all much safer actions for this cartridge!
The push feeds will contain a mistake and the CRF won't!

dogcatcher223Thanks for the input. I only own one push feed action, and it kind of messes up sometimes. It is a Savage. I have a collection of stainless Rugers and really like them. But for a custom build I am open for anything. Where does one get a Remington 700 action only?
Shawn, those Montana action looks really nice. Wonder how hard it is to get a stock for it?

billhilly66I get my 700 actions at pawn shops and on gunbroker or auction arms. Just got a 7 mag ADL synthetic for $300 to build a .300 win mag tactical rifle. I'll throw the barrel and stock up on ebay and try to cut the cost of the action down further. Brownells sells the 700 short actions but for $400, I'll just buy a whole rifle and chop it up.

Fish30114Dogcatcher, take a look at empire rifles. George Sandeman is a good fellow to talk with. I have a project underway there, no experience with a delivered rifle yet, but they seem to offer everything you're looking for.
A little spendy perhaps, but worth a look.

Scota4570Brownells has M-700 Barreled actions.
I am missing something here.....Rugers are push feed?

dogcatcher223No, Rugers are controlled feed. The only push feed I own is a Savage and it messes up sometimes.
Thanks for all the advice everyone!
