ozhunterM98 Bottom metal for 458win?
Can the standard m98 magazine and floor plate be used for the 458win?
If so will it hold and feed three in the box plus one in the chamber?
Regards,

JBrownIf by "standard m98" you mean an 8x57 military unit, I think there would be quite a bit of modifying to make it work. At the very least it would need to be lengthened a bit.

MasteriflemanI have a Herter's J-9 action (same as a Mark X) that was 7M/M Mag and I re-barreled it to .458 WinMag and it feeds just fine with three down and one in the chamber. I agree that the military box would require extensive modification.

What's the difference in magazine dimensions?

JBrownThe Mauser clones such as the FN and Mark X use a longer (3.340"?) box than the military (8x57, etc.) units.
It is common to file the Military box to lengthen it when converting to 06 based cartridges.
Would this mod work to use the short belted mag cartridges in a military box? I don't know.
