Difference between REM700 & Model 7 Action?
Is there a difference between a short action Model700 and a Model 7 Rem Action?? I am considering a 7WSM as the basis for a custom rifle and am uncertain which Remington action is best suited for this caliber. Would anything chambered for the 7RSAUM be compatible??

I would be buying the factory rifle new/used and tossing the factory stock & barrel.

I am not building a lightweight rifle so weight of the action is not an issue.

Thanks in advance...

There is no difference in magazine length. No major mechanical differences. The model7 has a smaller tang and shorter bridge. There is no difference in strength. Regards, Bill.

The WSM case and loaded cartridge is a little longer than the SAUM. This isn't a problem for a Winchester rifle, since the magazine measures closer to 3.1", rather than the 2.87" or less for the Rem.
