James_BRuger's stainless finish
I was wondering how to achieve the finish Ruger puts on their stainless rifles. It is a matte gray finish. It is almost like that oxidized color stainless gets over time. I noticed Dakota Arms puts the same finsh on their stainless rifles as well. Is it a pickle of some kind?
Thanks
James

To get the color in a matte finish, bead blast the gun and blue it.

Rusty MarlinThe grey stainless finish on rugers is tumbled on. its essesially not duplicatable unless you have the right vibratory tub and the same media they use.
Malm's method will work to give a similar visual apperance.

SoonerBead blast the parts you want greyed, then drench the parts in ATF then card them on a carding wheel. (not a wire wheel found on most grinders)
