willimon1Remington Extractor Issue
I have a older remington 700 with the old style extractor and when I go to cycle a round the case hits the scope and falls back into the action. I was wondering if there is a cure to my problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

jglennI'd look at updating your ejector spring

Toomany ToolsThe head of the ejector can be shaped to change the angle of throw.

willimon1The ejector spring has been replaced. It simply throws the case up into the scope. Without the scope on there is no ejecting issue.

Toomany ToolsLike I said, put an angle on the head of the ejector to change ejection angle.

p dog shooterIt might not be the ejector causeing the trouble it might be a worn extractor that is the problem. The extractor might not be holding onto the shell long enough allowing the ejector to push the case out to early.

p dog is likely correct. If it worked before and now it doesn't it's either a defect in the the extractor or the ejector spring is binding up. There could be debris behind the extractor or it could be chipped or slightly out of position.

Shawn MasseyThe extrctor looks great but the old ejector spring was about four rings shorter that the new one. We tried the new one at full length and also cut it back to one ring longer than the old one and it still throws the case into the scope. I will try the angle on the ejector and see what that does.
